The following statement has been made on a forum concerning Charles Taze Russell:
"Russell questioned his faith at an early age and was uncomfortable with hell and predestination. He bounced around between Presbyterianism, Adventism, and Congregationalism before founding the movement that would become the JW's."
We are not with the Jehovah's Witnesses, but Russell was right in questioning his faith in the teachings of man, especially those teachings that would depict the Creator as a fiendish demon as in such doctrines as the supposed indescribable eternal sufferings of billions of men, women, children, infants, etc., who died without believing in Jesus.
Of course, as he pointed out, he thought that these teachings were actually a part of the Bible, and thus, believing this, his faith concerning the Bible also came into doubt. Once he learned that the Bible did not teach such blasphemous doctrines such as the eternal indescribable suffering of most of mankind, and that it did teach that Christ died for all, he was right in taking up the Biblical stand for the truth concerning these matters.

Russell, however, learned the Biblical truths about hell, the condition of the dead, and about the trinity, as well as "the ransom for all," from others who had become before him. He made no secret of this. Nevertheless, his understanding of these matters did not originate from out of the blue, nor were they simply his own thoughts. It was the proper Biblical understanding of these matters that led him to reaffirm his faith in the Bible, in the God of the Bible, and in Jesus as the Son of God who gave himself a ransom for all.
I doubt that Russell would have ever claimed to have been the founder of the Bible Students movement. At any rate, the Allegheny class of Bible Students existed before Russell became associated with N. H. Barbour, who was a "Second Adventist"; Barbour, however, was not a member of the Seventh-Day Adventists.
Russell, of course, was not the founder of an organization called "Jehovah's Witnesses." He never heard of such an organization; he did not believe in such an organization, and he preached against the formation of such an organization until the day he died. Russell refused to allow himself or the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society to become a "central authority" over the local congregations, although, individually, and as congregations, many of the Bible Students may have come to view him as such. -- Ronald R. Hi I was very interested in your work. I believe Charles Russell was commissioned by our lord to help to "restore and rebuild spiritual Zion", Jerusalem. in the last days to prepare for the return of our lord.

I was shown, many of the prophecies in the book of Daniel had two fulfillments such as Daniel chapter 9v24-27. The first one, was when word went to "Ezra the scribe" in 458 to "restore" God's word and worship again and 483 years to build jerusalem until the messiah = 25 CE. Showing his birth must have occurred about 5/6 BC.
We know many put the date of his birth later, BUT, history tells us King Herod died in 4 BC and the travellers from the East visited him before his death and even IF it was the same year as his death, (4 BC) they told him they saw the star two years earlier, (6 BC) and that was why Herod had all the baby boys killed from two tears and under. So, as JWs insist he was born in 2 bc, they are totally wrong.
The second fulfillment occurred in 1519 CE, when word went to William Tyndale to "restore" God's word to everyone which this video shows.1519-437 yrs=2001 to the messiah,
I do believe Brother Russell was used by God to restore many Biblical truths. I do not believe that spiritual Jerusalem itself was ever destroyed and needed to be restored.
DeleteHave you actually studied Brother Russell's studies on chronology and time prophecies? Brother Russell was not dogmatic about his conclusions, but I do believe that he was right about 2 BC being when Jesus was born. So far the chronology that Brother Russell presented is the only one I have found that has a precise symmetry.
CLICK HERE for links to Russell's studies. These have a lot of Johnson's theories added, many of which I do not accept.
There are many, many theories out there about 'second fulfillments', types, etc. We need to be careful not make our theories into dogma.
